Team members

Evrard Benasoavina
My name is Evrard Benasoavina. I live in the north-eastern part of Madagascar, where I work as a manager of the school garden New Generation and Education Specialist at the organization DLC-SAVA (Duke Lemur Center). In the past years, I have been working closely with researchers and got engaged in different environmental research projects. Our region is very special because it is home to many endemic and endangered animal and plant species. I became manager of the school garden New Generation in 2020 because I want to raise awareness about the value of our Malagasy nature. At our garden, people can get in touch with nature and learn about its importance.

Marie Olys
Since the beginning of the school garden project, I work there as a teaching assistant. I completed different trainings in environmental education and agriculture. Also, I studied management with focus on finance and accounting. At the garden, I am responsible for the environmental lessons and I also help organizing the material and food for school visits. At the beginning I was a volunteer at the garden but since 2021 I am an employee of the school garden team.

Josie Augustina
I am a teaching assistant at the school garden New Generation. In parallel, I also work as a teacher at a public school in Sambava. In the past, I worked as a research assistant in a German research project studying trust relations, farmer’s production decisions and collective pro-environmental behavior. I am very interested in environmental education. I love teaching kids and engaging them in different games.

Morazandry
I am responsible for the security at the school garden. That means I guard the school garden property during night and day. I also often help with other tasks at the school garden such as cooking, cleaning and taking care of the animals.

Phile
I work together with Morazandry as a security man. I also help with gardening jobs at the garden. In addition, I take care of the animals, clean the school garden property and help with the preparation of dinners and lunches.

Angelette
I am a cook at the school garden New Generation. I work at the school garden since the beginning of the project in 2020. I enjoy cooking meals with ingredients freshly harvested from our garden.

Alberthine
I am a cook at the school garden. I especially help preparing meals when we have big groups visiting the school garden for training sessions. I enjoy cooking meals at the school garden because we have a variety of crops in the garden which we can use.
